An Easy Way to Enjoy Dentistry
At PK Dentistry, we understand that some people don’t like going to the dentist, or even simply hate it altogether. We are committed to offering different methods that ease patient anxiety and make your experience in our office one that you’ll think back on in a positive way. One of the ways we do this is by offering two types of sedation in our office. Either option is safe, effective, and can be used during literally any type of dental procedure no matter how big or small your oral health care needs are.
Sedation is perfect for people that have/are:
- Mild to severe anxiety about dental care
- Sensitive teeth and gums
- A desire to complete all of their treatment in one visit
- The inability to sit for longer periods of time for dental care
- A history of bad experiences with dentists
We invite you to visit us for a hassle-free consultation to find out whether or not Invisalign braces are an option for your smile-straightening needs.
Anxiety shouldn’t prevent you from getting the care you need, or cause you to put treatment off until it’s more severe. Our oral sedation option utilizes prescription medication to keep you relaxed and comfortable during your entire visit with us. Although you’ll be able to talk, walk, answer simple questions or instructions, the majority of oral sedation patients won’t remember a single thing about their appointment. Most of the time you’ll just feel as if you took a light nap throughout your visit with us. Most medication is taken about an hour before your appointment and completely wears off a few hours after it’s taken, so you’ll need to have a friend or family member escort you to and from our office. Oral sedation is great for patients that want to have all of their treatments completed during a single visit.
Laughing gas is easy to administer and completely safe for all ages. Most people feel warm, relaxed, and experience less anxiety when they request nitrous oxide. Nitrous is administered using a nosepiece that delivers a steady stream of oxygen at the same time. Unfortunately, nitrous is not usually appropriate for patients with severe nasal allergies or congestion since breathing through the nose may be difficult. After the treatment is completed, nitrous oxide effects are completely reversed within 5-10 minutes as a steady stream of 100% oxygen is administered. With nitrous oxide use it is perfectly safe to drive back to work or home afterward.
